About Us
Our Mission NCCF’s mission is to empower fathers to unite families by providing the resources for fathers to become more socially and economically responsible. NCCF offers a comprehensive set of services that promote self-sufficiency, character reconstruction and positive fatherhood through education, training, counseling, mentoring and job development. Respect, care and compassion are the essential ingredients used to sustain a challenging and disciplined environment. Back to top... Our History The National Comprehensive Center for Fathers (NCCF), formerly The Philadelphia Comprehensive Center for Fathers (PCCF), formally the Fatherhood Initiative (FI) Program of Philadelphia, was officially launched in September 1999 as part of a state-wide demonstration program of the Pennsylvania Fatherhood Initiative and the Department of Public Welfare. In July 2004, after surpassing expectations and programmatic goals for five consecutive years, Kofi Asante, Executive Director successfully combined all of the fatherhood services offered by four different service providers into a one-stop service center. As a result, the Philadelphia Comprehensive Center for Fathers was born under the auspices of The Greater Philadelphia Urban Affairs Coalition. NCCF’s five successful direct service units have become the replicated model for fatherhood programs across the state of Pennsylvania and New Jersey. As the result of such national success, in September 2007, the National Comprehensive Center for Fathers was developed. The Executive Director Kofi Asante, Executive Director of National Comprehensive Center for Fathers, is a national leader and authority on the fatherhood front. After accumulating over 25 years of experience in the Arts, Humanities and Human Services fields, Asante has earned a national reputation as a creative leader endowed with remarkable vision. Asante’s knowledge, coupled with his life experience as the father of three biological children and three stepchildren, complimented him, as a natural choice to lead a first-of-its-kind fatherhood initiative program in the state of Pennsylvania, now known as the National Comprehensive Center For Fathers (NCCF). Under his guidance, NCCF has reached and exceeded all key benchmarks relative to its funding criterion, by demonstrating excellence in job-specific skills training, literacy education, GED obtainment and ex-offender job development and employment. He holds an Offender Employment Specialist certification, obtained by the Federal Bureau of Prisons and the U.S. Probation Office. Asante also serves as Deputy Director for the Development of Men’s Programs for the Greater Philadelphia Urban Affairs Coalition. Managing Staff |
